Jacques about Solar Energy in Belgien

Belgium is one of the fastest growing renewable energy nations in Europe. For over a decade, the share of renewable energy in the country has increased from about 3% in 2006 to over 13% in 2022. Nevertheless, domestic political instability within the region has hindered the rapid growth of this mission. Three federal regions share responsibility for energy policy in Belgium. The regions of Brussels (capital), Flanders and Wallonia are responsible for the procurement and distribution of all types of energy (renewable and non-renewable). Currently, renewable energy in Belgium is mainly used in the heating sector. The aim is to address increasing energy demand through the use of renewable energy to increase electricity capacity and reduce the use of fossil fuels.
